Time To Cut Back

Pennisetum ‘Hamlin’ – a warm season grass. Cut back to 3″ in late spring after frost has passed, for that hedgehog look!

My garden is screaming for attention at this time of year. But I am ignoring the vast carpets of snap weed in my beds and going for the simple, straightforward and manageable task of cutting back my ornamental grasses. Even though my Miscanthus and Calamagrostis still look pretty interesting in a vertical straw-like sort of way I know it is time to cut them back.  I can deal with my grass grooming duties before the afternoon is over, but I am not so sure about the weeding.
