Trees

The following is a list of  the trees that we hope to have for sale at some point this year.  Please call or email to check current availability.  The heights and spreads given in the descriptions are what you can expect for a mature tree approximately ten years of age.

Sorbus aucuparia ‘Black Hawk’ (Mountain Ash)

Shape: Columnar with oval crown
Foliage: Dark green leaves turn orange and red in fall
Flower: White flowers in spring
Light: Full sun
Size: H: 25-30’ W: 15-20’
Orange-red fruit held in clusters from summer to late winter – good choice for attracting birds. Tolerant of heat, pollution and wind.

Stewartia pseudocamellia

Summer flowers, fussy, needs good well drained soil.
Likes sun to part shade
H 20’-30’ W 20’-30’

Styrax japonicus ‘Evening Light’ (Japanese Snowbell)

Shape: Compact upright habit
Foliage: Leaves are dark purple (full sun) or olive green (partial shade)
Flower: Fragrant white pendent bell-shaped flowers on maroon stems in late spring
Light: Full sun or partial shade
Size: H: 10-15’ W: 5-10’
Each flower turns into an oval-shaped fruit (drupe) that hangs from the branches throughout summer.

Styrax japonicus (Japanese Snowbell)

Shape: Broad, flat-topped canopy with maturity
Foliage: Deep green leaves may turn yellow to red in fall
Flower: Fragrant white bell-shaped flowers hang below the leaves in late spring
Light: Full sun or partial shade
Size: H: 20-25’ W: 20-25’

Showy white flowers. Tight pyramidal habit. Likes sun to part shade H 20’-25’ W 15’-20’ Available Spring 2014
