Japanese Maples

Please phone or email to check for current availability. Russell Nursery is known for its large selection of Japanese maples. Our upright japanese maples are usually available in 5, 7, 10 and 15 gallons, and the weeping varieties are in 2, 3, 5, or 10 gallon sizes. Occasionally we have larger, more mature specimens available. The colour changes are listed in order of spring, summer & fall. The height indicated is approximate as growing conditions vary, 10 years – maturity.

Upright, strap-like foliage, unusual.
Purple red, purple red, crimson.

Acer palmatum ‘Bihou’

Fairly fast growing, vase shaped when young
Bark on twigs and branches turns a vivid coral yellow with an orange overcast in winter.
Red buds contrast with the bark.

Deeply cut, 7-lobed leaves emerge red-orange (color of the garnet gemstone)
Has good color retention until mid summer before fading to purplish-green.

A naturally occurring extreme dwarfing form with extraordinarily tight internodes and leaves much smaller than the species.
